Where do people go to rehab the most? Not where you might expect! The Midwest has many states with a high incidence of rehab admissions.
Data comes from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) Treatment Episode Data Set (TEDS). Note that this data only includes admissions to a rehab facility, and that one person can have multiple admissions over the course of a year. In addition, this only captures drug users that seek treatment.
Looking at the data broken into the types of drug used, the same states continually pop up with a high rate of admission to rehab. For each drug including alcohol, cannabis, heron, meth, and cocaine, Colorado and Minnesota both belong to the highest category.
